Hour donation of new and used items helps set up a home for a once homeless person and gives them a new start to life.
Heartland’s Permanent Supportive Housing is a HUD grant funded program to house homeless individuals. Between the start of the program in March 202 through June 2020, Heartland was able to house individuals in 8 of the 14 slots available. Two of these individuals were a couple that had been living under a Sioux City bridge for over 10 years. In addition to finding acceptable living arrangements and meeting with the homeless individuals, Heartland staff also collects donations of housing items and even physically moves the individuals into their new homes with their new-to-them items.
